How do you stage macular holes?

The Gass macular hole staging system involves the following:
Stage 1: Pseudo-hole: not full thickness
a: a yellow spot
b: a yellow ring
Stage 2: True macular hole less than 400 microns in diameter
Stage 3: Greater than 400 microns in diameter
Stage 4: Large hole with a complete vitreous detachment seen by a Weis ring
