What’s the difference between Stickler syndrome and Wagner syndrome?

Stickler is very similar to Wagner, in that they both have optically empty vitreous and tendancy for retinal detachment. Stickler syndrome is also associated with flat facies and the Pierre Robin sequence abnormalities.

Stickler and Wagner are caused by different gene mutations. There are 4 types of Stickler, one of them non-ocular, Wagner (and erosive vitreoretinopathy) are caused by a mutation in the Versican gene (5q14.3). The main difference is the choroidal atrophy in Wagner syndrome.
