In the outer plexiform layer. This is in contrast to the schisis cavities of juvenile x-linked retinoschisis that occur in the nerve fiber layer. I remember this with the mnemonic:
"Juveniles are New, so their schisis occurs in the Nerve Fiber layer.
Senile retinoschisis is Old so it forms in the Outer plexiform."
